What this 3VA2 frame breaker delivers
The Siemens 3VA2612-5KQ32-0KA0 is a 3-pole IEC molded-case circuit breaker in the 3VA2 frame, rated at 1250 A continuous (In) with a breaking capacity class M delivering Icu=55 kA at 415 V AC. The electronic trip unit ETU860 provides LSIG protection — long-time (Ir adjustable 500–1250 A), short-time (Isd 0.6–10x In), instantaneous (Ii 1.5–10x In), and ground-fault (Ig 0.2–1x In, tg 0.05–0.8 s, switchable off). A factory-installed shunt trip on the left side operates on 208–277 V AC 50/60 Hz or 220–250 V DC, allowing remote opening for emergency-stop or load-shedding circuits.
The 3VA2 frame mounts in a fixed or withdrawable cradle within a switchboard or panel enclosure. The ETU860 LSIG trip unit is field-configurable via rotary dials and DIP switches on the front face — no programming tool required. The shunt trip coil draws power from a separate control circuit; verify the supply matches the nameplate rating (208–277 V AC or 220–250 V DC) and that the control transformer is sized for the inrush. Neutral conductor protection requires an external CT, ordered separately.
