What this MCCB carries and what it means for your panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA4130-4ED24-0AA0 is a 2-pole molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the System protection version, fitted with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release. The TM210 designation means the thermal element is fixed at 30 A and the magnetic short-circuit pickup is fixed at 300 A — no field-adjustable trip unit, so what you see on the nameplate is what protects the circuit. At 40 °C ambient it carries 30 A continuously; derate to 26 A at 70 °C if the panel runs hot. The interrupting capacity is 65 kA at 240 V and 25 kA at 480 V, which covers most industrial secondary-distribution fault levels without needing a current-limiting upstream breaker.
Interrupting capacity — the real-world headroom
At 240 V this MCCB clears 65 kA symmetrical — that is a high-capacity rating for a 2-pole frame, meaning it can sit at the main lug of a 240 V panel without needing a fused disconnect ahead of it. At 480 V the rating drops to 25 kA, and at 600 Y/347 V it is 14 kA. If your service entrance is a 480 V delta with a 30 A feed, 25 kA is adequate for most industrial plant secondary panels; if the available fault current is higher, you need to coordinate upstream or step to a higher-frame 3VA variant.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
The continuous current rating is 30 A at 40 °C. At 45 °C it holds 29 A, at 55 °C it holds 28 A, and at 70 °C it holds 26 A. The operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. If the breaker is in a non-ventilated enclosure near other heat sources, use the 60 °C or 70 °C column — that 26 A figure is the safe continuous load, not a suggestion.
Mounting and integration
The 3VA4130-4ED24-0AA0 measures 50.8 mm wide, 129.4 mm tall, and 75.1 mm deep — a compact 2-pole footprint that fits standard DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures. Front protection is IP40, meaning tools and fingers stay out but the breaker is not sealed against hose-down. No communication function, no ground-fault monitoring, no motor drive — this is a straight thermal-magnetic MCCB for basic overcurrent and short-circuit protection.
