What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 3VA4170-5ED34-3AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker from the 3VA4 family, Frame 125, with a 70 A fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit (TM210). The interrupting rating of 35 kA at 480 V means it can safely clear a fault current up to that level without welding contacts or rupturing the case — essential for panel coordination where the available fault current is known to be in that range. The overload protection (Ir) is permanently set at 70 A, and the instantaneous short-circuit pickup (Ii) is fixed at 10 × In (700 A), so it's a dedicated line-protection device, not field-adjustable for motor or generator applications.
Compliance and regulatory documentation
RoHS compliant since 13 May 2019. REACH Article 33 disclosure applies: the part contains Lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1% w/w in the current candidate list. Export control is AL: N / ECCN: EAR99, so no special licensing for cross-border movement. The manufacturer provides the standard EU Declaration of Conformity and UL/CSA file documentation on request.
