It provides remote electrical switching of the breaker — opening and closing the main contacts without an operator at the panel. The mechanism is designed for 3VA1 breakers in the 400 A and 630 A frame sizes, as well as 3VA2 breakers in the same frame sizes. The mechanism's make time is 1.7 s typical, and its break time is 1.3 s typical — meaning the breaker closes in under two seconds and opens in under 1.5 seconds from the control signal.
