The Siemens 3VA9988-0BA24 is a shunt trip (auxiliary release) accessory for the SENTRON 3VA family of molded case circuit breakers. It fits the 3VA10 through 3VA14 frames and the 3VA20 through 3VA24 frames. When energized at its rated voltage, it mechanically trips the breaker from a remote signal — a pushbutton, a safety relay, or a PLC output — without requiring an operator at the panel. The coil is rated for 380–500 V AC at 50/60 Hz, with a maximum apparent power consumption of 650 VA. That draw is the inrush to seat the trip mechanism; once the breaker opens, the coil circuit is interrupted by an internal auxiliary contact, so the control transformer or relay only sees that load momentarily.
The shunt trip measures 21.7 mm wide by 65.1 mm high by 31.2 mm deep. It mounts inside the breaker's accessory slot — no additional DIN rail space required. The three accessory slots in the 3VA frame accept this unit in one position, leaving the others free for an undervoltage release, alarm switch, or auxiliary contact block. Strip the control wires to 10 mm (0.4 in) for the screw terminals. The overvoltage category is III and the rated impulse withstand voltage is 4 kV, so the shunt trip is suitable for installation downstream of a main distribution board without additional surge suppression on the control circuit.
