What this 4-pole MCCB covers — breaking capacity and thermal curve
The 3VM1050-4ED42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker, 4-pole, rated for 50 A continuous current with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release. Its breaking capacity is voltage-dependent: 121 kA at 240 V, 76 kA at 415 V, 40 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 500 V — meaning at 240 V it handles high-fault utility feeds, while at 500 V the lower 11.9 kA still covers most motor branch circuits. The thermal curve holds full 50 A up to 50 °C ambient; above that it derates to 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the breaker for the derated value, not the nameplate 50 A.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm high — a standard SENTRON 4-pole MCCB footprint that mounts directly onto a DIN rail or panel-mount base. Front-side IP40 protection means it is suitable for enclosed panels where no water ingress is expected; keep it behind a gland plate or cabinet door. Rated insulation voltage is 690 V, so it can be used in 480/277 V and 600 V systems with margin. Maximum power loss is 14.6 W — account for that heat in your panel thermal budget if mounting multiple breakers in a sealed enclosure.
