Breaking capacity and selectivity in the panel
The 3VM1120-4EE46-0AA2 is a 4-pole IEC frame 160 circuit breaker with a 36 kA breaking capacity at 415 V (class S). That rating means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to 36 kA without welding contacts or cascading failure upstream — a critical figure for panel builders coordinating with a main breaker or transformer secondary. The 20 A thermal-magnetic release (TM220) with adjustable overload protection (Ir = 14 A to 20 A) and fixed short-circuit pickup (Ii = 16 × In, so 320 A) gives you a standard line-protection curve for cable and distribution circuits. The neutral conductor is unprotected on this variant (terminal connection only), so the breaker interrupts the three phases and switches the neutral without overcurrent protection — typical for TN or TT systems where the neutral is bonded at the source and fault current returns via the phase path. Verify your system earthing arrangement before specifying.
