Breaking capacity across voltage levels
The 3VM1132-5GD42-0AA0: This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V AC, 76 kA at 440 V AC, and 17 kA at 500 V AC. The steep drop above 440 V means the 500 V rating (17 kA) is the limiting factor for high-voltage distribution — verify the available fault current at the point of installation. The 187 kA at 240 V covers high-fault scenarios in North American 277/480 V panels when used on the 240 V leg.
Thermal derating and operating limits
The 32 A rating holds steady from 40 °C through 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 31 A, at 60 °C to 31 A, at 65 °C to 30 A, and at 70 °C to 30 A. For a panel running at 55 °C ambient, the continuous load should not exceed 31 A. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. Maximum power loss is 10.6 W.
Physical integration and protection
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm high — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that fits most Siemens SENTRON distribution panels and switchboards. Front protection is IP40, meaning tools or fingers larger than 1 mm are kept out, but the breaker is not sealed against dust ingress or water. The N-conductor protection is rated at 100%, so the neutral pole is fully rated for the same 32 A as the phase poles — no derating needed on the neutral path.
