What this 4-pole MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VM1150-3EE46-0AA2 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection. Its TM220 thermal-magnetic release provides overload and short-circuit protection, with a rated current of 50 A at 40 °C that holds flat through 50 °C before a gentle derate begins — 49 A at 55 °C, 48 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. That thermal stability means you can load it near nameplate in a warm panel without forced derating. Interrupting capacity is rated per voltage: 76 kA at 240 V, 53 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 12 kA at 500 V. The 76 kA at 240 V figure is the headline — it handles high-fault scenarios on 240 V distribution without cascading upstream. The 53 kA at 415 V covers the common three-phase industrial voltage. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, giving headroom for 690 V systems.
Form factor and panel fit
Dimensions: 70 mm depth, 101.6 mm width, 130 mm height. The 70 mm depth is the critical dimension for enclosure depth clearance — it fits standard 150 mm deep enclosures with room for wiring gutters. Width at 101.6 mm (4 inches) is the standard 4-pole MCCB footprint; it occupies four 25 mm DIN spaces if mounted on a DIN rail adapter. Front protection is IP40, suitable for dry indoor panels.
Key ratings at a glance
Rated insulation voltage: 800 V. Overcurrent release design: TM220 (thermal-magnetic, fixed thermal and magnetic settings). Power loss at rated load: 15 W maximum. Operating temperature range: -25 °C to 70 °C. Storage temperature: -40 °C to 80 °C. No undervoltage release, no communication function, no ground-fault monitoring version. Trip indicator is not present — visual trip indication is via the handle position only.
