What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 3VM1150-4ED42-0AA0 is a 4-pole IEC frame 160 molded-case circuit breaker from the 3VM1 series, rated 50 A with a 36 kA interrupting capacity at 415 V (breaking capacity class S). That 36 kA figure is the maximum fault current it can safely clear at 415 V without welding contacts or rupturing the case — critical for panel SCCR coordination downstream of a transformer or large feeder. The TM210 trip unit gives fixed overload protection at Ir=50 A (not adjustable) and fixed short-circuit pickup at Ii=10 x In (500 A). No dials to mis-set; what's on the nameplate is what you get. The N conductor is unprotected (straight-through, no internal trip) and the breaker ships with a nut keeper kit for panel mounting. Product class C means it's manufactured to order — not a stocked shelf item — so it can't be returned or re-used once ordered. Plan the BOM freeze accordingly.
Where it fits in the panel
Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to the backplate via the supplied nut keeper kit. The 150 x 119 x 116 mm envelope fits standard 160 A frame cutouts; watch the 4-pole width when laying out gland plates and phase barriers. Line-side and load-side lugs accept copper or aluminum conductors sized for 50 A continuous — torque per the nameplate values, not the generic table.
