SENTRON 3VM1 — 63 A MCCB for line protection
The Siemens 3VM1163-4ED22-0AA0 is a 2-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) for line protection. It carries a 63 A rating sustained from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 58 A at 70 °C — the full thermal curve is in the spec table so you can size for a warm panel without guesswork. Breaking capacity is 121 kA at 240 V AC and 76 kA at 415 V AC — those figures cover most North American and European distribution fault levels without needing a current-limiting upstream device. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release has an adjustable li of 630 A max, giving coordination headroom for motor feeders or transformer inrush. Front protection is IP40, so it handles incidental tool contact in a closed panel but not washdown. Rated insulation voltage is 500 V, and DC operation is supported up to 250 V — useful for battery or UPS circuits.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 12 W — negligible for panel thermal budgeting but worth noting if you are packing multiple breakers in a sealed enclosure.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 50.8 mm wide, 130 mm tall — a standard 2-pole MCCB footprint that drops into most DIN-rail or bolt-on panel layouts without re-drilling. The 50.8 mm width matches the common 2-inch per-pole spacing used across SENTRON 3VM1 and 3VA families.
