What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VM1180-5EE42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker in the 3VM1 family, IEC frame 160, with a 55 kA interrupting capacity at 415 V (breaking capacity class M). It's fitted with a TM220 thermal-magnetic trip unit, rated 80 A continuous, adjustable overload protection from 56 A to 80 A, and fixed short-circuit protection set at 10× In. The N conductor is unprotected — that means the neutral pole is a switched-only path, not a protected pole, which is standard for 4-pole breakers in TN systems where the neutral is bonded to ground and doesn't need overcurrent protection. This breaker is built for line protection in distribution panels, switchboards, and motor control centers. The 55 kA SCCR at 415 V gives it headroom for high-fault installations upstream of a transformer or in industrial mains. The nut keeper kit is included — a small detail that saves time during panel assembly, keeping the busbar hardware from dropping into the enclosure.
Integration notes
Packaged dimensions are 150 × 119 × 116 mm. That's a compact footprint for a 160 A frame — fits standard distribution panelboards. The nut keeper kit is pre-fitted on the line-side terminals, so you don't have to fish for washers during busbar connection. Spring-cage terminals on the load side accept copper conductors; strip length and torque values follow the Siemens mounting instructions.
