What the ratings mean for your panel
The SENTRON 3VM1196-3EE42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 16 A continuous, with a TM220 thermal-magnetic trip unit. The 76 kA breaking capacity at 240 V means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream damage — critical for high-fault installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers. At 415 V it still holds 53 kA, and at 500 V it delivers 11.9 kA, so the interrupting rating stays useful across common industrial voltages. The 16 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 55 °C — no derating needed in a warm panel. At 60 °C it drops to 15 A, and at 70 °C it's still 15 A. That's a tight thermal curve; the breaker runs at full nameplate in most enclosure conditions without oversizing. Front IP40 protection means it's splash-safe from the front but not sealed against dust ingress into the enclosure. Fine for a clean indoor panel; not for washdown zones.
Panel fit and integration
At 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, and 130 mm tall, this 4-pole breaker fits standard MCCB panel cutouts. The 70 mm depth is shallow enough for most 200 mm deep enclosures, leaving room for wiring gutters and bus bars behind the mounting plate. No communication module or motor drive option — this is a straight line-protection breaker with thermal-magnetic overcurrent release (TM220). The N-conductor protection is not integrated, so four-pole protection is handled across all poles equally.
