What this MCCB does for a panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VM1196-4EE32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 320 A, built for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a TM220 thermal-magnetic release — the thermal element handles overloads, the magnetic element clears short-circuits fast. The rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 400 V and 480 V systems with headroom to spare. Breaking capacity drops as voltage climbs: 121 kA at 240 V, 76 kA at 415 V, 53 kA at 440 V, and 12 kA at 500 V. That's a lot of fault-clearing muscle for a 320 A frame — you've got selectivity room downstream without worrying about the main tripping on a branch fault.
Thermal derating — what the numbers mean for your panel
This MCCB holds its full 16 A rating from 40 °C up to 55 °C. At 60 °C it derates to 15 A, and it stays at 15 A through 70 °C. That's a shallow derating curve — good sign the thermal element is sized conservatively. If your panel runs hot (say 50 °C ambient inside the enclosure), you still get the full rated current without having to oversize the breaker.
