Commutating Choke for Converter Duty
The Siemens 4EM5000-2CB00 is a single-phase commutating choke (line reactor) designed for converter input circuits. It operates at a rated voltage of 400 V AC and a rated frequency of 50 Hz, carrying a rated current of 13.5 A with a maximum current of 15 A. The inductance is 0.0032 H (3.2 mH), and the relative inductive voltage drop is 4% at the rated measurement level — this limits the rate of current rise and reduces harmonic distortion on the line side of the converter. The choke is rated for an ambient temperature of 40 °C and complies with thermal class B (130 °C temperature rise limit) per IEC 60085. Total power loss is the sum of coil losses (13.4 W) and iron core losses (27.9 W), giving a combined 41.3 W that must be dissipated in the mounting environment — important for panel thermal budgeting.
Integration Notes
Dimensions are 0.115 m depth, 0.097 m width, and 0.111 m height. Screw/tab terminals accept standard ring or fork lugs; verify lug width against the tab dimensions before wiring.
