Smoothing choke for DC-link filtering
The Siemens SIDAC 4EM5008-0BK00 is a 1-phase smoothing choke rated for 110 A DC maximum, 99 A nominal, with an 800 V insulation voltage and 60 µH inductance. It is designed for DC-link ripple filtering in drives and power supplies, built to EN 61558-2-20. The 2500 Hz operating frequency suits it for high-frequency switching converter outputs where reducing current ripple protects downstream capacitors and extends semiconductor life.
The 110 A maximum DC current and 800 V rated voltage define the continuous load envelope — this choke will saturate above that current, so it must be sized to the drive's peak DC bus current, not the motor nameplate. The 60 µH inductance at 2500 Hz gives a specific impedance; verify it matches your converter's switching frequency and ripple current target. Thermal class F (155 °C) insulation per IEC 60085 means it can run hot in a closed panel, but the 1 W copper loss plus 1 W iron loss (2 W total) is modest — no forced cooling needed in most cabinets.
IP00 open-frame construction
IP00 means no enclosure — the choke is a bare wound component with free cable ends for termination. The free cable ends (0.2–2.5 mm² typical) let you wire directly to the DC bus terminals; no lug or connector is supplied. Dimensions are 97 mm wide × 87 mm high × 131 mm deep — fits a standard 100 mm DIN rail footprint but requires clearance around the magnetic field.
