What this choke does in a DC bus
The Siemens SIDAC 4EM5104-3CB00 is a single-phase smoothing choke — a Glaettungsdrossel — rated for 6.3 A DC continuous, with a maximum of 7 A DC. Its 0.04 H inductance smooths the current ripple coming off a DC bus or rectifier, which is what keeps the downstream drive or converter from eating harmonics and overheating the DC-link caps. At 690 V insulation class, it handles 400 V and 480 V drives without a sweat. The 27.1 W coil loss and 0.5 W iron loss add up to about 27.6 W total heat to vent inside the cabinet.
Where it lives — panel fit and thermal class
IP00 means no enclosure — this choke mounts inside a cabinet, not out on the plant floor. It measures 0.129 m deep by 0.097 m wide by 0.111 m tall, so it fits on a standard subplate or DIN-rail bracket. The screw-type and tab terminals accept ring lugs or quick-connects for the main DC circuit. Thermal class B per IEC 60085 means the insulation system is rated for 130 °C hot-spot, which is the standard for general-purpose industrial chokes. Ambient rated at 40 °C, so derate if your panel runs hotter than that.
