DC smoothing choke for 50 Hz line-commutated drives
The Siemens SIDAC 4EM5111-8CB00 is a single-phase smoothing choke rated for 74 A DC continuous current with 0.23 mH inductance, designed to sit on the DC link of a line-commutated rectifier fed from a 50 Hz supply. The 1000 V insulation voltage means it can handle the peak DC bus voltage in a standard 400–690 VAC drive without creeping along the winding. IP00 and flat-type terminals tell you this is an open-frame component meant for a cabinet — not a standalone enclosure — so plan for a gland plate or busbar connection inside the panel. The 74 A maximum is the DC current the choke can carry continuously at 40 °C ambient with Class B insulation. That current rating, not the inductance, is the selection gate: if your drive's DC bus pulls more than 74 A under full load, this choke saturates and loses its smoothing effect. The 22.1 W coil loss plus 0.3 W iron loss total 22.4 W of heat to vent inside the cabinet — small enough for natural convection in a well-ventilated panel, but worth a glance at the thermal rise if the enclosure is sealed.
Panel integration and wiring
Depth 0.145 m, width 0.097 m, height 0.087 m. Flat-type terminals require bolted busbar or cable lug connection. IP00 needs cabinet mounting.
