What it is and what it does
The Siemens 4EM5115-0EB00 is a single-phase commutating choke (line reactor) for converter applications. It limits current rise and reduces harmonics on the input side of a variable-frequency drive or DC drive — the inductive drop of 4% at rated current is the design target, matching typical line-reactor sizing for drive input circuits.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
Rated 22.5 A continuous at 460 V AC, 60 Hz, with a maximum current of 25 A — the 22.5 A figure is the thermal current (Ith) for continuous duty; the 25 A maximum is the short-term overload ceiling. For DC-side applications the same choke carries 30.6 A DC, which is useful if you are using it on the DC link of a converter rather than the AC input. Inductance is 0.002 H at rated conditions. The 4% relative inductive voltage drop at rated current is the design target. Total power loss splits between the coil (13.3 W) and the iron core (33.7 W), summing to 47 W at full load. Thermal class B (130 °C) insulation per IEC 60085 means the winding can operate at up to 130 °C hot-spot temperature without accelerated aging — adequate for most industrial enclosures at 40 °C ambient.
