What this choke does in the panel
The Siemens 4EP3200-0AK00 is a 3-phase AC mains choke — a line reactor — sized for frequency converter (VFD) input. Rated for 3 A continuous at 400/460 V, 50-60 Hz, it sits between the supply and the drive to smooth line-side harmonics, limit inrush current, and protect the VFD rectifier from grid spikes. The 9.8 mH inductance gives a 4% voltage drop at rated current — a typical figure for a moderate impedance choke that doesn't starve the drive of voltage under load. At 0.057 m deep and 0.088 m wide, it's a compact block that wires up clean on a backplate or DIN-rail bracket. The IP00 open-frame construction means it's for enclosure mounting only — keep it away from washdown zones and conductive dust. Screw-type and tab terminals accept standard ring lugs or fork terminals; no special crimp tool needed.
Thermal and duty considerations
Rated for 45°C ambient with Class B insulation (130°C thermal class per IEC 60085). In a packed enclosure with other heat sources, derate if the internal air temperature exceeds 45°C. The 3 A rating is the continuous thermal current — not a short-time or overload figure. If the VFD draws intermittent peaks above 3 A, the choke will saturate and lose inductance, so size it for the drive's continuous input current, not the motor FLA.
