3-Phase Line Reactor for Motor Drive Harmonic Mitigation
The Siemens 4EP3500-0UN00 is a 3-phase line reactor (choke) rated for 14 A continuous current with a 16 A maximum, 0.88 mH inductance per phase. It is designed to sit between the AC supply and a variable-frequency drive input, limiting harmonic distortion, reducing voltage notching, and protecting the drive DC bus from line transients.
The 14 A rated current at 40 °C ambient (thermal class B per IEC 60085) sets the continuous load limit for a 3-phase motor drive application — size the reactor so that the drive's input current does not exceed this figure. The 0.88 mH inductance provides enough impedance to limit peak inrush and reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) on the line side, typically for drives in the 5–7.5 kW range on 460 VAC systems. The IP00 rating means no enclosure protection: the reactor relies on the panel's own cabinet for dust and touch protection. Screw-type terminals accept standard power wiring; no special lug kit needed.
