Commutating choke for converter duty
The Siemens 4EP3601-8DS00 is a three-phase commutating choke (also called a line reactor or converter reactor) designed to limit current rise and reduce harmonic distortion on the input of variable-frequency drives and other power converters. Rated for 500V AC at 50 Hz, it carries a continuous rated current of 14.4 A with a maximum of 16 A and a peak current capability of 20 A. The 1.8 mH inductance provides a relative inductive voltage drop of 4% at rated current, frequency, and voltage — a typical value for drive input reactors that keeps the voltage drop low enough to avoid starving the DC bus while still smoothing the line current. The choke is built for continuous industrial duty with a thermal class B winding (130 °C rise) at a 40 °C ambient.
IP00 — panel-mount only
Protection class IP00 means the choke has no enclosure — it is a bare component intended for mounting inside a control cabinet or power panel where the cabinet itself provides the environmental seal. The screw-type terminals accept stranded or solid copper conductors for the main circuit connection.
