Commutating choke for converter duty
The Siemens 4EP3602-0DS00 is a three-phase commutating choke (line reactor) designed for converter input circuits. It carries a rated current of 16.2 A, with a maximum continuous current of 18 A and a peak current capability of 23 A, at a rated operating voltage of 500 V AC and 50 Hz. The 1.6 mH inductance limits the rate of current rise during converter commutation, reducing harmonic distortion and protecting the rectifier diodes. This is the choke that goes between the line supply and the converter's input — not a motor-side output reactor.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 16.2 A rated current (I_LN) sets the continuous load the choke can carry at 40 °C ambient. The 4 % relative inductive voltage drop (uk) at rated current and frequency tells you the voltage the choke will drop at full load — critical for sizing the DC bus voltage margin in the drive. The thermal class B winding (130 °C) and the combined coil plus iron-core loss of about 44 W (37 W coil + 7.1 W iron) mean the choke will run warm; allow free air circulation or forced ventilation in the enclosure. The IP00 protection class means it is an open-frame component — it must be mounted inside a panel or cabinet that provides the environmental seal.
