What it is and what it does
The Siemens 4EP3603-6DS00 is a three-phase commutating choke (line reactor) designed for converter output circuits. It limits the rate of rise of current (di/dt) and smooths commutation notches, protecting the converter's power semiconductors and reducing harmonic distortion on the motor cables. Rated for 12 A AC continuous current at 50 Hz and 500 V, with a DC current rating of 14.7 A. The 0.0016 H inductance gives a relative inductive voltage drop of 2.1% at rated conditions. Thermal class B insulation, with 20 W copper loss and 12 W iron loss at rated load, and a 50 °C ambient rating.
Mounting and integration
IP00 open-frame construction — no enclosure, no finger-safe protection. The 0.125 m × 0.125 m × 0.09 m footprint (W×H×D) fits a standard sub-panel layout. Terminals are screw-type and tab connections for the main current circuit. Cable gauge matches 12 A continuous duty.
