What it is and what it does
The Siemens 4EP3700-1DS00 is a 3-phase commutating choke (line reactor) for converter applications, rated 22.5 A continuous with a maximum of 25 A. Its 0.0015 H inductance limits current rise and harmonics on the AC side of a variable-frequency drive or DC drive converter, protecting both the rectifier and the upstream supply. The 4% relative inductive voltage drop at rated conditions is a standard sizing target for drive input chokes — high enough to smooth line notching, low enough to avoid excessive voltage sag under load. The part carries a DC-rated current of 30.6 A, which may be relevant if the choke is used in a DC-link application, though the primary duty is AC line input. Screw-type terminals simplify field wiring for panel builders, and the IP00 enclosure means it must be mounted inside a cabinet or enclosure that provides the required touch protection.
Where it fits in the panel
The 4EP3700-1DS00 measures 0.178 m wide, 0.105 m deep, and 0.153 m tall. It bolts directly to a mounting plate. Screw terminals accept main circuit conductors. Thermal class B insulation allows full load at 40 °C ambient.
Power loss and thermal management
Power loss at rated load is 55 W in the coil and 13.4 W in the iron core. That heat must be dissipated inside the enclosure.
