It limits current rise and reduces harmonics on the input side of a variable-frequency drive or DC drive. The choke is wound for thermal class B per IEC 60085, meaning it can operate at a maximum ambient of 40 °C with a total power loss of 72 W (53 W in the coil, 19 W in the iron core). Termination is via screw-type terminals, which simplifies field wiring with standard ring or fork lugs. The choke is also rated for DC operation at 49 A, so it can serve in DC-link applications where the converter's intermediate circuit carries DC current.
The choke measures 0.178 m wide, 0.153 m tall, and 0.12 m deep. It is an open-frame (IP00) component designed for bolt-down mounting inside a control cabinet. Plan for adequate clearance around the unit for airflow — the 72 W total loss at rated load will heat the surrounding air, so keep it away from temperature-sensitive electronics unless the cabinet is ventilated.
