The Siemens 4EP4010-0BK00 is a 3-phase line reactor (choke) rated for 400 V AC, 13.5 A continuous, with a maximum current of 15 A and an inductance of 5 mH. It sits between the supply and a variable-frequency drive or other power electronics to limit current rise, reduce harmonics, and protect the DC bus from line transients.
The 13.5 A rated current (15 A maximum) at 400 V AC three-phase sets the motor load this reactor can support. For a typical 400 V drive, that current corresponds to roughly a 7.5 kW motor at full load — but the exact sizing depends on the drive's input current draw, not the motor nameplate. The 5 mH inductance provides enough impedance to limit di/dt and reduce reflected-wave stress on the motor insulation in longer cable runs. Total power loss is 82.81 W (72.9 W in the coil, 9.91 W in the iron core), so account for that heat inside the enclosure — forced ventilation or derating may be needed above 40 °C ambient.
Integration notes
Mounting dimensions: 0.219 m wide, 0.179 m tall, 0.143 m deep. The screw-type and tab terminals accept standard power wiring — no special lug kit needed. Thermal class B (130 °C) insulation per IEC 60085 means the reactor is rated for a 40 °C ambient with a 90 K temperature rise, which is standard for industrial panel environments. The open-frame IP00 design requires the panel to provide the environmental protection; plan for at least 50 mm clearance around the core for airflow.
