What it is and what it does
The Siemens 4EP4010-0LS00 is a three-phase mains choke (Netzdrossel) rated for 80 A continuous current at 500 V AC, 50/60 Hz. The 0.36 mH inductance limits harmonic distortion and inrush current on the line side of a drive or power supply — it's the component that keeps the upstream breaker from nuisance-tripping when a VFD's DC bus capacitors charge. Rated current is 80 A, with a rated value of 72 A under the listed conditions at 40 °C ambient. The 3% relative inductive voltage drop at rated current indicates the choke is sized for a typical line-reactor application.
Electrical and thermal ratings
Power loss splits into 50 W in the coil and 32 W in the iron core at rated conditions — 82 W total to dissipate inside the enclosure. Thermal class B per IEC 60085 means the insulation system is rated for 130 °C hot-spot, which is standard for industrial chokes and leaves headroom for moderate overloads. The IP00 protection class means the choke has no enclosure — it's a bare magnetic assembly intended for mounting inside a panel or cabinet where the environment is clean and dry. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept field wiring directly.
Mounting and integration
Dimensions are 0.219 m wide, 0.179 m high, and 0.143 m deep — roughly 219 × 179 × 143 mm. This is a panel-mount component; plan for the foot-print and clearance around the IP00 core for airflow. The 82 W heat load needs ventilation or forced air if the cabinet is sealed.
