Mains Choke for Drive Input
The Siemens 4EU2452-2UA00-0AA0 is a three-phase mains choke (line reactor) designed for the input of variable-frequency drives. It handles a maximum continuous current of 160 A at 50/60 Hz and is rated for 400/480 VAC systems. The 88 µH inductance with a 2% relative inductive voltage drop smooths drive harmonics and limits inrush, protecting both the drive DC bus and upstream distribution.
The 160 A maximum current and 144 A rated operational current define the continuous load envelope. For a 400 V drive, this choke supports motors up to roughly 75–90 kW depending on drive efficiency and duty cycle. The 2% voltage drop is typical for a 2% impedance line reactor — enough to attenuate common-mode noise and reduce harmonic distortion without excessive voltage sag under load. Class H insulation means the winding can sustain a 180 °C hot-spot temperature, so the choke holds up in a crowded cabinet with limited airflow. The IP00 open-frame construction means it must be mounted inside an enclosure with at least IP2x protection — not for standalone outdoor or washdown use.
The choke measures 0.225 m wide, 0.21 m high, and 0.147 m deep. Terminals are flat-type connectors — expect bus-bar or crimp-lug termination, not spring-cage or screw-clamp. The 123 W copper loss plus 30 W iron core loss total about 153 W heat to dissipate inside the panel; factor that into your ventilation or forced-air calculation. Ambient temperature rating is 40 °C; derate current above that per the thermal class H curve.
