The Siemens 4EU2522-0CA00-0AA0 is a three-phase commutating choke (line reactor) designed for the DC link of a converter drive. Its job is to limit the rate of rise of current (di/dt) during thyristor or IGBT commutation, reducing harmonic distortion and protecting the converter's semiconductor switches. The 0.2 mH inductance and 4% relative inductive voltage drop are sized for a 500 V AC, 50 Hz supply, carrying a rated continuous current of 126 A and a maximum of 140 A, with a peak current capability of 175 A.
The 126 A rated current (I LN) is the continuous thermal current at the rated ambient of 40 °C. The 140 A maximum (I thmax) is the thermal limit for overload conditions at 50 Hz. The 175 A peak current is the non-repetitive surge rating — important for sizing upstream fuses or a circuit breaker that must pass the inrush without nuisance tripping. Total power loss is 187 W (135 W in the coil plus 52 W in the iron core), which must be dissipated within the enclosure; the IP00 rating means this choke is not protected against dust or moisture ingress and requires installation inside a cabinet with at least IP2X or better. Thermal class H insulation (180 °C hot-spot) gives margin for high-ambient or overloaded installations.
Mounting and connection
The choke measures 0.225 m wide by 0.21 m high by 0.16 m deep. Main circuit connections are via flat-type terminals, typical for bolted bus-bar or cable-lug terminations in a drive cabinet. The IP00 chassis-mount design means it must be bolted to a grounded metal panel inside the enclosure; no DIN-rail clip is provided. Verify the available panel footprint against the 225 mm width and 160 mm depth before committing the layout.
