What this choke does in a drive line
The Siemens 4EU2522-3BA00-0AA0 is a 3-phase commutating choke (also called a line reactor) sized for converter input circuits. It limits current rise and harmonics on the AC side of a variable-frequency drive or DC drive supply.
Three current figures govern selection here. The 160 A AC maximum is the thermal limit under worst-case conditions — the choke can sustain that continuously without exceeding its 135 W coil loss and 52 W iron loss at 40 °C ambient. The 144 A AC operational current is the continuous rating under rated voltage and frequency; that is the number to match against your drive's input current at full load. For DC-side applications, the 196 A DC rated value applies — useful if the choke is placed in the DC link rather than the AC line. Thermal class H insulation (180 °C hot-spot) gives headroom for overloads and high ambient temperatures inside a sealed cabinet.
Mounting and connection
IP00 means no enclosure — this choke is intended for mounting inside a panel or drive cubicle where it is protected from dust and contact. The main circuit connects via flat-type terminals (bus-bar style), not screw clamps or spring cages. Physical footprint is 0.225 m wide by 0.21 m tall by 0.16 m deep. Plan for bus-bar routing and adequate clearance around the terminals for torque tools.
