Mains Choke for Frequency Converters – 160 A, 480 V, 3-Phase
The Siemens 4EU2752-1UB00-0AA0 is a three-phase mains choke (line reactor) designed for use with frequency converters. It filters harmonics and limits inrush current on the line side of a variable-frequency drive, protecting both the drive and upstream distribution. Rated for 160 A maximum AC current at 480 V AC, 50/60 Hz, with an inductance of 0.176 mH and a relative inductive voltage drop of 4% at rated current and frequency. The choke's 4% voltage drop is a standard impedance for drive input reactors — high enough to smooth line notches and reduce harmonic distortion, but low enough to avoid significant voltage sag under load. That 160 A rating is the thermal maximum (Ithmax) at 60 Hz; the continuous rated operational current (I LN) is 144 A at 50/60 Hz, which is the figure to use for sizing in a continuous-duty drive application. Total power loss splits into 172 W in the coil and 87 W in the iron core at rated conditions, for a combined 259 W. That heat must be dissipated — the IP00 enclosure means no housing; the choke is intended for mounting inside a ventilated cabinet or panel where airflow carries the heat away. Class H insulation (thermal class per IEC 60085) allows a 180 °C hot-spot temperature, giving generous headroom above the 40 °C ambient rating.
Physical Fit & Integration
Dimensions are 0.270 m wide, 0.248 m high, and 0.208 m deep. The main circuit connects via flat-type terminals — expect busbar or large-gauge cable lugs, not screw-clamp blocks. The IP00 rating means no drip shield or finger-safe cover; install inside a locked or tool-accessible enclosure per local safety codes. The 4% voltage drop at rated current is a standard impedance for this class of reactor.
