What it is and what it does
The Siemens 4EU3022-6AA00-0AA0 is a three-phase commutating choke (line reactor) designed for the DC-link or input side of a converter / variable-speed drive. It limits current rise (di/dt) and reduces harmonic distortion on the line side of the rectifier. Rated for 283.5 A continuous (315 A maximum) at 500 V AC, 50 Hz, with a DC current rating of 386 A — so it handles the full rectified current of a 3-phase drive pulling that AC input. Inductance is 0.12 mH with a 4 % relative inductive voltage drop at rated current and frequency. That 4 % drop is typical for a commutating choke — enough to smooth commutation notches and limit fault current without dropping excessive voltage under load. Power loss splits between the coil (220 W) and iron core (144 W), for a total around 364 W at rated conditions. Thermal class H insulation (180 °C rated hot-spot) per IEC 60085 means the choke can run hot in a crowded cabinet without derating prematurely — important when ambient hits 40 °C, which is the rated ambient temperature.
Installation and integration
IP00 protection — no enclosure. This is a panel-mounted component intended for a clean, dry electrical cabinet. The flat-type terminals (flat connector) for the main circuit accept busbar or cable lugs; plan for bolted connections. Dimensions are 0.3 m wide × 0.269 m tall × 0.211 m deep — it's a substantial block, not a DIN-rail mount. Leave clearance for airflow and cable bending radius around the terminals.
