What this mains choke does for a drive line
It smooths the current drawn from the supply, limits harmonic distortion, and protects the drive rectifier from line transients and voltage notches. Rated at 504 A continuous with a 560 A maximum, it handles the full-load current of a large drive — typically a 250–315 kW motor on a 400 V line, depending on the drive's input current profile.
Thermal and mounting reality — IP00, Class H, flat terminals
IP00 means open-frame — no enclosure. Must be mounted inside a panel. Flat-type terminals accept large cable lugs or copper bars. Thermal class H per IEC 60085 means the insulation system can sustain a 180 °C hot-spot temperature. That is a high-temperature rating, suited for the internal heat rise: the coil dissipates 218 W and the iron core 164 W, totalling 382 W of heat that must be vented from the enclosure. The 40 °C ambient rating is the standard operating condition; above that, derate or increase airflow. Physical footprint: 0.3 m wide × 0.269 m tall × 0.221 m deep.
