Mains Choke for Variable-Frequency Drives
It smooths incoming line current, reduces harmonic distortion, and limits inrush current — protecting both the drive and upstream switchgear. Rated for 690 V AC at 50/60 Hz, it carries a maximum continuous current of 180 A and a rated current of 162 A, with a 4 % relative inductive voltage drop at rated conditions. The 0.28 mH inductance and 230 W copper loss plus 110 W iron core loss define its thermal behavior. Class H insulation (180 °C) per IEC 60085 gives headroom for continuous duty in a 40 °C ambient.
Sizing and Application Context
This choke is intended for the input side of a frequency converter (Netzdrossel f. FU per). The 4 % voltage drop is a typical value for line reactors that provide moderate harmonic mitigation without excessive voltage sag under load.
