What this choke does in a drive line
The Siemens 4EU3622-0DA00-0AA0 is a 3-phase commutating choke for converter applications, rated 315 A maximum continuous current and 284 A nominal current at 50/60 Hz. It limits the rate of rise of current during thyristor or IGBT commutation, reducing harmonic stress on the DC link and smoothing the current waveform. Rated for 690 V AC operating voltage, it handles the line side of most 400 V and 690 V class drives. The 394 A peak current rating covers short-duration overloads during motor starting or load transients. Thermal class H insulation (180 °C hot-spot) means the choke can run hot in a sealed cabinet without derating, as long as the ambient stays at or below 40 °C.
IP00 protection class means the choke has no enclosure. Dimensions are 0.35 m wide by 0.321 m tall by 0.227 m deep. Flat-type terminals accept busbar or cable lugs. Total power loss is 500 W (320 W in the coil plus 180 W in the iron core). That heat must be vented or conducted out of the enclosure — factor it into your cabinet thermal budget, especially if the drive and choke share a compartment.
