It limits the rate of rise of current (di/dt) and filters harmonics on the AC line side of a variable-frequency drive or DC drive converter, protecting the rectifier diodes and reducing line notching. Rated for 500 V AC at 50 Hz, it carries a continuous AC current of 450 A (I LN) and a maximum AC current of 500 A (Ithmax). The DC-rated current is 612.7 A, reflecting the choke's ability to handle the DC-link ripple current in a 6-pulse converter.
