Commutating choke for converter duty
The Siemens 4EU3622-8BA00-0AA0 is a 3-phase commutating choke (line reactor) designed for converter input or DC-link circuits, rated for 750V AC operating voltage and a maximum continuous current of 355A at 50/60 Hz. The rated inductance is 0.16 mH with a relative inductive voltage drop of 4% at rated current (319.5A). This choke limits current rise and harmonics on the converter line side, protecting the rectifier and smoothing the DC bus.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 355A maximum current (Ithmax) at 50 Hz sets the thermal limit for continuous operation; the 319.5A rated current (ILN) is the nominal design point where the 4% voltage drop is measured. At DC, the choke is rated for 435A — useful for DC-link applications where the current is smoother. The 0.16 mH inductance is sized for typical 50/60 Hz converter switching frequencies; higher switching frequencies would see less filtering effect. The 300W coil loss plus 210W iron core loss sum to 510W total dissipation at rated load — this must be vented from the enclosure. Thermal class H (180°C) insulation means the choke can run hot without degrading the winding, but the 40°C ambient rating is the design point; derate above that.
Installation and integration
IP00 protection means the choke has no enclosure — it is an open-frame component intended for mounting inside a panel or cabinet. Dimensions are 0.35m wide, 0.321m tall, and 0.227m deep. The main circuit connection uses flat-type terminals, which require a busbar or cable lug with a flat mating surface. The choke is heavy and should be bolted to a mounting plate; no DIN-rail clip is provided. Ensure adequate clearance around the core for airflow and heat dissipation.
