Line Reactor for Variable-Frequency Drives
The Siemens 4EU3652-7UB00-1BA0 is a three-phase mains choke (Netzdrossel f. FU) designed for the input of variable-frequency drives. It is rated for 450 A continuous (500 A maximum) at 500 V AC, 50 Hz, with an inductance of 0.073 mH and a relative inductive voltage drop of 4% at rated current. The 4% voltage drop at rated current is the key selection parameter: it limits harmonic distortion and reduces peak currents on the drive input, but the voltage drop subtracts from the available DC bus voltage. For a drive running near its voltage ceiling, the 4% drop may limit output voltage — confirm the drive's minimum bus voltage requirement before specifying. Class H insulation (per IEC 60085) means the winding can sustain 180°C hot-spot temperature — necessary for a reactor dissipating 446 W total (300 W coil loss + 146 W iron core loss) at 40°C ambient. Mount with free air circulation around the 0.35 m × 0.321 m × 0.237 m enclosure; IP00 means no dust or moisture protection, so it belongs in a clean, dry cabinet — not on the factory floor.
Lifecycle and Sourcing
UL and CSA recognition per EN 61558-2-20 is confirmed on the nameplate. The standard covers safety requirements for chokes and reactors; UL/CSA listing means the part is accepted for North American panel builds without additional agency review.
Integration Notes
Flat-type terminals on the main current circuit accept bus bar or large cable lugs — no screw-clamp or spring-cage connection. Plan for bolted connections with appropriate torque tooling. The 0.35 m width and 0.321 m height mean it occupies roughly the footprint of a small suitcase; panel layout must allow clearance for the IP00 enclosure and airflow around all sides.
