The Siemens 5SJ3610-7 is a 3P+N SENTRON 5SJ3 miniature circuit breaker with a C-curve trip characteristic rated at 10 A and a breaking capacity of 4.5 kA per both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2. It occupies 4 width units (70 mm installation depth) on the DIN rail and accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 25 mm². The C-curve means it trips at 5 to 10 times rated current — the standard choice for general-purpose distribution and moderate motor-starting inrush where you need selectivity with downstream sub-circuits. At 10 A it's sized for lighting, small power, or control transformer feeds in a 400 V AC three-phase panel.
Breaking capacity and coordination
The 4.5 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC (EN 60898 / IEC 60947-2) is the standard domestic and light-commercial rating. In a panel with a 10 kA upstream device you get full selectivity up to about 3 kA; above that the MCB and upstream breaker may both open. If your fault-current study shows prospective short-circuit current above 4.5 kA at the panelboard, step up to the 5SL4 series (10 kA) — but that means a different footprint and terminal layout.
Panel integration
Mounts on standard DIN rail in any position. The 70 mm depth fits flush in a 4-module-wide cutout. Terminals accept 0.75 to 25 mm² solid or stranded copper — strip length follows the terminal marking. IP20 with connected conductors means it's protected against finger contact but not washdown; keep it inside a closed panel. Ambient temperature range is -20 to +45 °C, with periodic excursions to +55 °C at up to 95% humidity. The 20 000 mechanical switching cycles cover normal switching plus occasional fault clearing over the panel's service life.
