What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SJ4113-8HG41 is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker from the 5SJ4 series, carrying a D tripping characteristic. That D curve means it's built for loads with high inrush — think motor starters, transformers, or welding equipment — where the magnetic trip threshold is higher than a B or C curve, so nuisance tripping on startup is less likely. Rated 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2 at 400 V AC, with a DC rating of 60 V. The 15 kA figure under IEC 60947-2 is the one that matters for industrial panel coordination — it tells you this breaker can interrupt a fault up to that level without welding its contacts or cascading upstream. Snaps onto standard DIN rail (35 mm), takes any mounting position, and its 70 mm depth plus 18 mm width (1 MW) fits a standard modular enclosure. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category 3 mean it's rated for the typical industrial control panel environment — not just clean, dry switchgear rooms.
Installation notes
Sealable (padlockable handle) and halogen-free / silicon-free construction — relevant if the panel sits in a clean room or a food-processing area where outgassing or silicone contamination is a concern. Ambient temperature range -40 °C to 75 °C, with 95% humidity tolerance. That covers most indoor industrial environments, including unheated warehouses or outdoor-rated enclosures.
