Integrator's note on the D-curve and breaking capacity
The Siemens 5SJ4345-8HG41 is a 3-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping characteristic, rated 400 V AC and breaking 10 kA per EN 60898 or 15 kA per IEC 60947-2. The D-curve (10–20× In magnetic trip) is specified for loads with high inrush — motor starters, small transformers, or welding equipment — where a B or C curve would nuisance-trip on start-up. The 15 kA IEC 60947-2 rating gives headroom above the EN 60898 value; coordination studies should use the lower 10 kA figure for domestic-style distribution panels and the higher one for industrial switchgear where IEC 60947-2 applies.
Panel fit and environmental ratings
Snap-on mounting to standard DIN rail (35 mm per EN 60715) in any orientation. Occupies 3 width units (54 mm wide, 76 mm deep, 90 mm tall) with an installation depth of 70 mm. IP20 with conductors connected; IP40 in the handle area. Rated for ambient -40 to +75 °C, pollution degree 3, overvoltage category III. Vibration-resistant to 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz and 60 m/s² at 35 Hz (4 s). Terminal torque spec: 3.5 Nm for Cu conductors rated 60/75 °C.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
