The Siemens SENTRON 5SJ6315-7 is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) from the 5SJ6 series, rated at 1.6 A with a C tripping characteristic. It breaks fault currents up to 6 kA per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 at 400 V AC — the standard interrupting rating for branch-circuit protection in commercial and light industrial panels.
The 1.6 A rating is the continuous current it carries without tripping at 40 °C ambient — sized for a small lighting circuit or a control transformer secondary, not a general-purpose receptacle branch. The 6 kA SCCR at 400 V tells you it safely interrupts a bolted fault up to that level without rupturing, which covers most distribution panels fed by a 250 kVA or smaller transformer. The 3-pole configuration switches all three phases simultaneously, so it is the right choice for a three-phase motor branch or a 400 V three-phase lighting circuit.
Panel integration
The MCB snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail and occupies 3 width units (roughly 54 mm). Installation depth is 70 mm, which fits most 80 mm deep enclosures. The terminal accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 25 mm² — enough for the load side wiring on a 1.6 A circuit. Mounting position is any orientation, so it works in vertical or horizontal panel layouts.
