What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SJ6410-7 is a 4-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker from the 5SJ6 series, rated 10 A at 400 V AC with a C tripping characteristic and 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2. The C-curve means it trips between 5 and 10 times rated current — designed for moderate inrush loads like small motors, transformers, or lighting banks where a B-curve would nuisance-trip on startup. The 6 kA SCCR at 400 V tells you it can safely interrupt a fault up to that level without welding contacts or cascading upstream; that's standard for most sub-distribution boards in commercial and light industrial panels.
Where it fits in the panel
Mounts on DIN rail in any position — no orientation restrictions — and occupies 4 width units (roughly 72 mm). Installation depth is 70 mm, so it clears most standard enclosure depths without forcing a deeper can. Wire range accepts 0.75 to 25 mm² solid or stranded, which covers everything from 1.5 mm² lighting circuits up to 6 mm² feeder tails. The terminals are sealable, halogen-free and silicon-free construction, relevant for environments where outgassing or contamination matters — think food processing or semiconductor-adjacent panels. IP20 with connected conductors means it's protected against finger contact but not washdown; keep it inside the enclosure.
