What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SJ6532-7FC is a 1P+N miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a C-curve trip characteristic, rated 32 A at 230 V AC single-phase and 250 V AC single-phase operation. It interrupts fault currents up to 6 kA per EN 60898 — that's the standard for residential and commercial final circuits, so it covers branch protection in distribution boards for lighting, socket outlets, and small appliance loads.
What the ratings mean for fit
C-curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current — 160 A to 320 A magnetic release — which suits moderate inrush loads like small motors, fluorescent lighting, and transformers. The 32 A rating at 30 °C derates to 29.56 A at 40 °C and 28.16 A at 45 °C; if your panel runs hot, size the upstream protection accordingly. The 1P+N configuration switches the phase and the neutral, with neutral conductor switching built in. That's useful where you need to isolate both poles for maintenance or where local codes require switched neutral on the final circuit. DC rating is 72 V maximum — fine for control-circuit isolation on a 48 V or 60 V DC bus, but not for a 110 V DC string.
Where it goes and how it mounts
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail. The 36 mm width (2 modular units) fits a standard distribution board slot. Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm — check gland-plate clearance if the panel is shallow. Mounting position is any, so it works horizontally in a tight enclosure as long as the venting isn't blocked. IP20 with connected conductors — suitable for enclosed distribution boards, not for wet or washdown areas. Overvoltage category III and pollution degree 2 are typical for fixed-installation final circuits.
Compliance and documentation
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction — relevant for clean-room or sensitive-environment installations where outgassing matters. Sealable with a lead or tag for lockout/tagout. Mechanical service life is 10,000 switching cycles typical, which is standard for an MCB in normal branch-circuit duty.
