What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL1101-7MB is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a C tripping characteristic, rated 1 A at 230 V AC single-phase and 400 V AC multi-phase. It protects branch circuits in residential and light commercial panels against overloads and short circuits, with a breaking capacity of 3 kA per IEC 60947-2.
What the ratings mean for fit
The C-curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current, so at 1 A it holds through motor inrush and capacitive loads that would nuisance-trip a B-curve, but clears faster than a D-curve on a hard short. The 3 kA breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2 is the industrial rating — sufficient for most sub-distribution boards fed by a transformer, but verify against the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point. The 1-pole, 18 mm wide form factor occupies one modular unit on a DIN rail, matching the standard SENTRON panel layout.
Panel integration
Snap-on mounting to 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715, with any mounting position allowed. Depth of 76 mm and installation depth of 70 mm clear standard gland plates and busbar systems. The IP20 rating with connected conductors means it is protected against finger contact but not washdown — suitable for dry indoor enclosures only.
