What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL1306-7MB is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) — a 3-pole, C-curve device rated 6 A at 230/400 V AC, 50/60 Hz. It protects branch circuits in residential and light commercial panels against overloads and short circuits. The C-curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current, so it handles moderate inrush from small motors or transformers without nuisance tripping, while still clearing a hard fault. Breaking capacity is 3 kA per IEC 60947-2 — enough for most domestic and small commercial distribution boards where the prospective fault current stays under that threshold. For panels with higher fault current, the 5SL4363-7 sibling offers 10 kA.
DIN-rail fit and panel integration
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail in any mounting position. Takes 3 modular width units (54 mm wide), with 76 mm depth and 90 mm height. Installation depth is 70 mm — the extra 6 mm accounts for the front toggle and terminal clearance. Sealable cover is standard, so you can lock the setting after commissioning. IP20 with connected conductors — fine inside a closed panel; not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure. Pollution degree 2 and overvoltage category III are typical for fixed-installation distribution boards.
Material and compliance
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction — relevant for panels in clean rooms or areas where outgassing must be minimized. Mechanical service life is 4,000 operating cycles typical; power loss per pole is 0.9 W at rated current in hot state.
