63 A B-curve MCB for residential and infrastructure panels
The Siemens 5SL3163-6 is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 63 A with a B tripping characteristic, designed for protecting branch circuits in residential buildings and infrastructure installations. Its 4.5 kA breaking capacity is certified to both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, covering the fault-current levels typical of domestic and light commercial distribution boards. The B curve means it trips between 3 and 5 times rated current — suited for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is modest, not for motor circuits or transformers that draw a higher starting surge.
Panel fit and wiring
At 18 mm wide (1 width unit) and 76 mm deep, the 5SL3163-6 occupies a single module on a DIN rail, with 70 mm installation depth required behind the panel surface. The screw terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 25 mm², with a tightening torque of 2.5 to 3 N·m. Mounting position is unrestricted, and the housing carries IP20 protection with connected conductors — standard for enclosed distribution boards.
