What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SL3216-6MB is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) from the 5SL3 design line, built for residential and infrastructure branch-circuit protection. Two poles, B-curve, rated 16 A at 400 V AC with a 4.5 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 — that's the standard for overcurrent protection in final circuits up to the rated short-circuit level. The B-curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current, so it's sized for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is modest; a C-curve would be the call for motor or transformer circuits.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto DIN rail, occupies 2 width units (36 mm). Mounting position is unrestricted — any orientation works. Installation depth is 70 mm behind the panel, overall depth 76 mm. Conductor range: 0.75 to 25 mm² solid or stranded, terminated with screw terminals torqued to 2.5 to 3 N·m. Sealable, touch-protected terminals. IP20 with conductors connected — standard for enclosed distribution boards.
