Panel fit and protection profile
The Siemens 5SL3250-6 is a 2-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 50 A with a B tripping characteristic, meaning it trips at 3–5× rated current — suited for residential and light commercial loads where inrush is moderate, like lighting circuits or general-purpose outlets. The 4.5 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 (also rated per IEC 60947-2 at 4.5 kA) handles typical fault levels in building distribution boards; at 400 V AC it covers standard single-phase and split-phase panels. The B curve avoids nuisance trips on resistive loads but will clear fast on a hard short.
DIN-rail footprint and wiring
Occupies 2 width units (36 mm) on a DIN rail, with a depth of 76 mm and an installation depth of 70 mm — standard for the 5SL3 family. The screw terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 25 mm², with a tightening torque of 2.5 to 3 N·m. Mounting position is unrestricted, and the housing is IP20 with connected conductors, so it belongs inside an enclosed panel or distribution board, not exposed to washdown.
Environmental and compliance notes
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction, sealable for tamper-proofing. Ambient operating range is -25 to +45 °C, with storage from -40 to +75 °C. Overvoltage category 3, energy limiting class 3. Suitable for residential buildings and infrastructure applications per the manufacturer's designation.
